Ethel Gower
Ethel Gower, 90, of Gladstone, MO passed away, Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
She was born on February 26, 1925 to Benjamin Woodburn and Alice Irene (Smith) Pollock in Wichita, KS. Ethel grew up in Harrington, KS and graduated high school from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS.
On December 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ival Andrew Gower. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City, KS, Tonganoxie, KS and in 2000 moved to Gladstone, MO. Ival passed away on July 20, 2000.
Ethel was a top golfer and bowler in the Kansas City area and was also a bridge instructor. She enjoyed living in the country and taking care of her dogs, cattle and flowers. Ethel loved being a wife, mother and grandmother.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Timothy Gower, and daughter-in-law, Debra Ann Gower; sister Martha White and husband Leroy; brothers, Larry Pollock and wife Betty Lou, Ed Smith, and Van Smith.
Ethel is survived by her son, Daniel J. Gower; grandchildren, Michelle Rawlings and husband Kelly and Cristi Campbell and husband Rich; great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Rachel Rawlings and Kaylin, Kylie, Tyler and Karli Campbell; brother Lyle Smith and wife Diane; close cousin Charles Anderson; sisters-in-law Lois Smith and Joanne Smith; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Graveside Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22nd at Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
