Esther Lee (Turner) Wright

 

Esther Lee Wright, 90, of Platte City, MO, passed away Thursday, November 28, 2013.

 

She was born on March 27, 1923 to Basil Duke, Sr. and Alma (Carrico) Turner in Weston, MO where she grew up and graduated from High School. 

 

On January 25, 1942 she was united in marriage to Eugene M. Wright.  While Gene was in the military they lived in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, Ft. Lewis Washington, and Bend, Oregon.  After his discharge from the Army, they moved to Platte City where they made their home.  Her husband, Gene, passed away July 10, 1999.

 

Esther and Gene owned and operated Gene Wright Real Estate and were partners in Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City for many years.  

 

Esther was a member of the First Christian Church in Platte City.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, boating and spending time with her family.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Ruth Dale; brothers Basil Turner, Jr., Vernon Turner, and Richard Turner; and sisters, Ermadean Spinner and Mary LeFeu.    

 

Esther is survived by her son, Bill (Kathy) Wright  and Eileen (Chris) Edlin;  grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Wright, Jason (Kim) Wright, Jenny (Brian) Montgomery, Jane (Darin) McCracken and Bob Edlin; twelve great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. 

 

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 6th at Platte City United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial:  Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Weston, MO 

Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Hospice.
