Esther Janene Critcher

Janene Critcher, 76, of Smithville, MO, passed away, August 26, 2010 in Olmito, Texas.

She was born on December 16, 1933 to Jacob Wesley and Laura Mae (French) Critcher in Smithville, Missouri, where she grew up and graduated high school. Janene attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri.

Janene worked as a Executive Secretary at the Kansas City Star from 1952 to 1955. She worked as a Federal Court Reporter from 1960 to 1966 in Kansas City, and also worked as a City Clerk from 1967 to 1970 in Smithville. In 1989 she began volunteering for the Clay County Archives until 2006.

She was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church, where she was involved in the choir and led the knitting and crocheting group. She loved playing piano, enjoyed piano duets with her mother and entertaining family and friends.

Janene was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her family and friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 31^st at Smithville Memorial Cemetery.
