Estelle Marie (Mindrup) Wright
Estelle Marie Wright, 84, of Smithville, MO, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010.
She was born on February 9, 1926 to John Henry and Thekla Catherine (Gieseke) Mindrup in Kansas City, Missouri. She was raised in Edgerton, Missouri and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1943.
On May 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Walter Wright. After their marriage they lived in Trimble and in 1954 they moved to Smithville where they made their home. Her husband, James, passed away on July 4, 2007.
Estelle was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church. She worked many years at the Justus Drug Store. She was an active member of the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary. She volunteered at the Information Desk and later the Sewing Room at the Smithville Campus. She recently completed 3000 hours of volunteer service. Estelle was a charter member and past president of the Smithville Historical Society. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed oil painting and traveling with family.
Estelle was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Oscar, Lester, and Marvin Mindrup and three sisters, Laura McKelvey, Margie Sellars, Ruby Dokos.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Wright, Kansas City, MO; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Bill Larson, Lincoln, NE; three brothers, Eugene Mindrup and wife Louise, Leroy Mindrup and wife, Rosie, and Kenneth Mindrup and wife Connie; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 27th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: Reed Cemetery, Trimble, MO
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Donations: American Lung Association.
