Ernest Louis Collier

Ernest Louis “Ernie” Collier, 84, of Smithville, MO passed away in the loving arms of his wife and daughters on June 4, 2014 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital.

 

He was born on February 25, 1930 to Clyde and Lottie (Webb) Collier in Smithville, MO.

 

On December 22, 1950 he was united in marriage to Frances Geraldine “Gerrie” Shrimplin.

 

Ernie retired from Union Carbide in 1991.  He was a Marine Corps Veteran.  Ernie was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  He enjoyed bird hunting and training his bird dogs.  Ernie was a collector of 2 cylinder John Deere tractors.  After he retired he restored John Deere tractors as a hobby.

 

Ernie was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Mudd and son-in-law, Tom Fuller, Jr.

 

He is survived by his wife, Gerrie, of the home; children, Sherry Whitfield and husband Dennis, Judy Fuller, Tina Summers and husband Donnie, Charles Collier, Lea Anne Leonard and husband Mike, and Maryl Lynn Phillips; son-in-law, Larry Mudd; sisters, Bonnie Shrimplin and husband Floyd and Betty Edwards; fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

 

Memorial Service:  2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 14th at Mt. Olivet Christian Church, 13120 Mt. Olivet Rd, Smithville, MO 64089 with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m.

 

Donations may be made to the church.
