    Elisa, Braden and Kyler,

I very much wish I could be there in person to honor and celebrate Eric’s life. I have so many special memories of him, and I’m grateful for the memories as I know you will be too. The world will be forever changed because of the person Eric was: a fun cousin, loving family man, fierce competitor, trusty friend, smart and funny son, brother and uncle. I know that list could go on as he was so many things to so many people. Sending you all my love and prayers for peace. He has left us far too soon, and will be missed deeply, but I know he’ll still be watching over us all.

    With love,

    Jana Schmitt Maulhardt

I am so fortunate to have had a friend like Eric. We experienced three lifetimes worth of great memories in too short of a time span. He loved Elisa and the boys so much that hardly ever was there a conversation when I didn’t feel how proud he was of them. I will miss him dearly but I have a greater appreciation of the amazing memories and good times we had together. Rest in peace brother.

I knew Eric for 8 years in the FAA. We was a real leader and most of all a great family man. His life was dedicated more to others rather than self.
    Eric will be greatly missed.

I worked for Eric and from day one he wanted to make sure that I was taken care of, in terms of not only my work but my family. He is the pinnacle of what it means to be an incredible boss but also an incredible person. He will be missed as a boss but also as a positive influence on this earth. Condolences from myself and my family. He is in my prayers.

I first knew Eric when he worked at Executive Beech. I was and still am in the Kansas City Flight Standards office. Eric accomplished much in his time with the FAA. I lived on the other end of Woodridge Street in Platte City before moving to Lee’s Summit in 2017. It was such a shock to hear about Eric.
