William Joe Littrell

William Joe Littrell, age 85, of Huntley, MT passed away at his home surrounded by family on November 6, 2020.

Joe was born on January 11, 1935 in Green Forest, AR to Joseph Otis and Dollie (Clemence) Littrell. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1953.

Joe married Shirley Seaman on August 12, 1955. During their marriage of 65 years they were blessed with 4 children; Larry (Tammi) Littrell of WY, Don (Diane) Littrell of VA, Ginger Littrell of MT, and Ron (Paula) Littrell of MO, and 4 granddaughters; Emily (Chris) Miles of VA, Danielle Littrell of VA, Sierra Littrell of AZ, and Savannah (Josh) Manke of WY, and 5 great granddaughters. He also leaves behind 2 sisters-in-law; Norma Hamilton of AZ and Sandy Littrell of WI and brother-in-law Don Hoover of KS.

Joe was preceded in death by both parents and his brother Gene Littrell, his sisters Colleen Wiedner and Phyllis Hoover, sister-in-law Norma Littrell and brothers-in-law Ben Wiedner and Doug Hamilton.

Joe was a diesel mechanic for most of his life and eventually bought his own Kenworth 18-wheeler. He and Shirley were an over-the-road team for 5 years until they sold the truck and went to work for his son at S&T Trucking. After retiring he offered to drive the Huntley Project Golf Team school bus for free but due to insurance and legal requirements, he had to be a part-time driver for the school. This quickly became a full-time position and he loved all 10 years before retiring a second time.

Joe loved playing golf at the Pryor Creek Golf Course and was a member of the Seniors team. He and his brother-in-law, Doug Hamilton, were marshals for the PGA at the Tucson Open for many years. He also loved his time as a Boy Scout leader in Smithville, MO and square dancing as a member of the Smithville Boots and Bows. He enjoyed taking his family to the lake with the camper and boat (often filled with bicycles) and would comment that we looked like the “Beverly Hillbillies” as we were leaving town.

Joe loved the Lord and his church family at the Pompey’s Pillar Chapel where he was a member.
