Virginia Marie Smith, 87 of rural Trimble, MO passed away January 22, 2019.

She was born on February 10, 1931 to Charley and Audie Marie Fox in Rock Island, OK. Virginia grew up in Rock Island, OK and in 1948 she graduated from Cameron High School in Cameron, OK and shortly after was on a train to Kansas City, MO to begin training with TWA. 

On December 31, 1950 she was united in marriage to Lawrence “Larry” Piefer Smith. After their marriage they lived in North Kansas City. In 1963 they moved near Stony Point, north of Trimble, MO where they farmed and made their home. Larry passed away on February 20, 1999.

Virginia was a longtime member of the Stony Point Presbyterian Church. She had many accomplishments in her lifetime but was  most proud to be a wonderful Mom, Grandma and Nana, an all state basketball player in high school, Missouri Farm Family  of the year in 1970 and employed with J.E. Dunn Construction Company from 1973-1996. Virginia was a member of TOPS and loved driving  with her crew from Budget Rental Car. She enjoyed her gardens,  flowers,  chickens, hummingbirds, playing and teaching the piano and was known for her exceptional cooking and baking. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister Phyllis Shrum and grandson Jared Smith. 

Virginia is survived by her children Darrell (Michelle), Howard (Lisa), Dale, Lloyd, Lavonne Morrisey, and Roger (Lori); grandchildren  Amber (Josh), Allison (Steven), Jennifer, Alisa (Steve), April (Andrew), Cody, Jacqueline, Jeannette (Brandon), Braden, Christina (Mike), Ashton (Heather), Nikki (Todd) and Ian (Jessica); great-grandchildren Darcy, Zach, Kiley, Wyatt, Aviana, Milana, Charlee, Rowdy, Everett,  Sleyton, Jaxon and Vincent; other relatives and many friends. 

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville

Burial:  Stony Point Cemetery, Trimble, MO
