Sallie Daniel

Sallie Mae Daniel, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away, Monday, December 10, 2018.

She was born on July 9, 1937 to Norman Lee and Emma Mae (Cavanaugh) Cardwell in Smithville, MO. Sallie grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School in 1955.

On August 10, 1956 she was united in marriage to Dale Raymond Daniel. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City North, where they made their home. Her husband preceded her in death in 1996.

Sallie worked for the North Kansas City School District as the “Bookstore Lady” at Oak Park High School and later as assistant to the nurses in the district.She was a member of KC Church where she was on the staff of the accounting department for the past 20 years. Sallie had read her Bible through eleven times this year. She was well on the way to having finished her twelfth time when she suffered a stroke which severally affected her eyesight. Sallie was an accomplished pianist and singer. She had been the pianist at Nashua Assembly of God and North Oak Assembly of God for many years. 

Sallie loved to travel and was always planning her next trip. Her favorite place was Hawaii, where she had visited eleven times. She always looked forward to her yearly family vacations to California. She had also traveled to Europe and especially loved Scotland. Even though she had everything laid out on the bed to put in her suitcase, she decided to pass on our planned weekend trip to Branson and go to Heaven for eternity instead. 

Like her grandfather, Frank Cavanaugh, she was a lifelong democrat. Sallie was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan, but the love of her life, was God and her family. She was devoted to her family all the days of her life.

Sallie was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Curtis Lee Cardwell of Des Moines, IA, Clifford Cardwell and wife Elizabeth Cardwell of Liberty, MO, Raymond Gene Cardwell of Liberty, MO, and Norman Cardwell, Jr and wife Beth of Clinton, MO.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheri Coffman of Smithville, MO; grandson, Daniel Coffman of St. Louis, MO; granddaughter Amy Bartholomew and husband Dakotah of Aurora, CO; great-granddaughter, Winnie Bartholomew; nephew, Kevin Cardwell;, great-niece, Stephanie Cardwell, both of Olive Branch, MS; sister-in-law, Donna Cardwell of Gladstone, MO; and niece, Pat Sexon, of Lee’s Summit, MO; and a host of friends.

Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15th at KC Church, 7700 Church Rd Kansas City, MO 64158.Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery
