Robert L. Dix

Robert Leo Dix, 82, of Kansas City, MO passed away October 26, 2018.

He was born on April 16, 1936 to Leo M. and Delores M. (Hefel) Dix in Dubuque, IA, the oldest of eighteen children. He graduated from Loras Academy in Dubuque. Bob served his country in the United States Airforce from 1954-1957.

On December 15, 1957 he was united in marriage to Carlene Rae Morton. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2009.

Bob worked for North Central Airlines in Chicago, IL, Wausau, WI, Muskegon, MI and Kansas City, MO. He continued working for Republic Airlines and retired from Northwest Airlines both in Kansas City. Working for the airlines gave Bob and Carlene the opportunity to travel the world. Their travels included Japan, Australia, Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, Ireland, Europe, Canada, Jamaica, China and Switzerland. After Bob’s retirement, they built their dream house at Table Rock Lake. 

 He enjoyed fishing, traveling with friends, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. 

 Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Dix and Dorothy Koltes; brothers Sgt. Daryl Dix and Richard “Pup” Dix, and brother-in-law Art Freihoefer. 

 He is survived by three children Keith Dix and wife Debbie, Marcia Morris and husband Mark and Debbie Egan and husband Bill; grandchildren Brendan (Amber) Egan, Marshall Morris, Nolan Egan, Kyle Derringer, Matthew (Carmaline) Morris and Melissa Morris; great-grandchildren Maysie, Lillian, Celia, Waylon, Finnley and Willa; sisters Patsy Freihoefer, Joyce (Bob) Hammel, Jeanette (Dean) Rampson, Linda (Dick) Firzlaff, Barbara (Lester) Cummer, Judy Dix, Shirley Dix Youngblut, Marilyn Dix, Carol (Joe) Powers and Cheryl (Chuck) Noel; brothers Ronald Dix, Bill (Patti) Dix and Alan (Sue) Dix; sister-in-law Pat Dix; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  

Rosary 1:00 p.m. with visitation following until 2:30 p.m. Mass at 2:30 p.m. all Wednesday, October 31st at Holy Ghost Church, 2921 Central Ave, Dubuque, IA 52001.

Inurnment with Military Honors: 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 9th at Missouri State Veteran Cemetery, Springfield, MO

In lieu of flowers donations may be made the the American Alzheimer's Association
