Wardie B. Hines, 101, of Gower, MO passed away, Wednesday, February 7, 2018.

 

She was born on June 17, 1916 to William Frederick and Aldyth Nannie (Ward) McClanahan near Gower.  Wardie grew up and attended school in Gower.

 

In 1933 she was united in marriage to Howard Lee Hines.  After their marriage they lived in Gower where they made their home.  Her husband, Howard, passed away on November 24, 1977.

 

Wardie was a newspaper reporter and worked for the Buchanan County Farmer and the Plattsburg Leader for many years.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Rosalee Thomas and Beverly Meade; four brothers, Bill, Jim, Herman and Ray McClanahan; and one sister, Virginia Anderson.  

 

Wardie is survived by her son-in-law, Lonnie Thomas; grandchildren, Ann Merise Brock and husband Terry and Mark Thomas and wife Amber; great-grandchildren, Maddux and Isabelle; other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation following from 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Inurnment will be at a later date at Allen Cemetery.
