Maxine Harmer

Maxine Harmer, 89, of Edgerton, MO passed away April 28, 2024.

She was born on November 8, 1934, to John William and Jessie Eileen (Martin) Teeple in Dearborn, MO. Maxine grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School. 

On July 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to William “Billy” Carrel Harmer. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home. Billy passed away on February 10, 1994. 

Maxine and Billy owned and operated Harmer’s Café in Edgerton. Maxine enjoyed cooking and baking, working on puzzles, and playing dominos and cards. Most of all she loved being with her family and hosting family dinners.

She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. 

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents John and Jessie Teeple; her husband Billy Harmer; her daughter Brenda Wilder; and sisters Ann Ramsier and Lavon Teeple. 

 She is survived by her son John Harmer; her daughter Karen (Harmer) Belt; grandchildren Tim Huntsman (Phillip Griffith), Sarah Klein, Danny Harmer, Andy (Charlene) Landis, Cory (Melissa) Harmer, and Billie (Cody) Routon; great-grandchildren Nick, Chase, Kellan, Lily, Andie Mae, Sophia and Lukas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Visitation: 1:30-2:30 p.m. with Funeral Service at 2:30  p.m. Sunday, May 5th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton.

Burial: Ridgley Cemetery.
