Laura E. Sellars, 88, of Edgerton, MO passed away, Sunday, March 11, 2018.

 

She was born on November 8, 1930 to Clyde M. and Virtie L. (Foster) Newman near Edgerton, MO.  Laura grew up near Edgerton where she graduated high school.

 

On January 30, 1949 she was united in marriage to John D. Sellars, Jr.  After their marriage they lived in Edgerton, where they made their home.  Her husband, John, passed away on March 11, 2012.  

 

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton for over 50 years.  Laura was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Adelphi Chapter 389 of Edgerton.  She served as Past Matron, District Deputy, and Grand Mason.

 

Laura was a CPA for over 15 years and later had her own practice.  She also worked at the Platte County Courthouse Clerk’s Office.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Clyde Newman, and her son.

 

Laura is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, children, and grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service:  11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
