Nina Sanders, 77, of St. Joseph, MO passed away, Saturday, January 13, 2018.

 

She was born on April 5, 1940 to Bryan Earl and Ruth Lorene (Baker) Elder in Forest City, MO.  She grew up in Oregon and St. Joseph and graduated from Lafayette High School. 

 

On September 13, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Sanders.  After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home.  Her husband, Jerry, passed away, January 28, 2011.

 

Nina was attending God’s Place Church in San Antonio, MO.  She was also a member of the Gower Goodtimers.  Jerry and Nina enjoyed playing music and singing.

 

Nina was a caregiver most of her life and was a licensed practical nurse.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Nina is survived by her sister, Lorene Elder; nieces, Renee Weal and Brenda Serpa; two great-nieces, and one great-great-nephew;  godchildren, Josh Smith and his daughter Shyann, St. Joseph, MO, Rachel Unick, Waverly, NE, and Elizabeth Pearson and her sons Lane and Cole, St. Joseph,  MO; friends of 37 years, Orville and Sheila Smith; and many friends.

 

Visitation:  11:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 15th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation from 10:00-11:30 prior to the service.  

Graveside Service:  2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forest City Cemetery.
