Nancy Baxter, 76, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away, June 5, 2023. 

She was born on October 24, 1946 in Smithville, MO. Nancy graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1964.  

She went on to work for Forum Café in North Kansas City, Strahm Automation and worked for USD 500 in Kansas City, KS as a school bus driver for 25 years. Most recently she was working as a Security Guard for Securitas Security. Nancy volunteered much of her time to Special Olympics and was also a paraprofessional that assisted many special needs children over the years. She loved to crochet, making several blankets & scarves, traveling when she could and most of all fishing.  

Nancy was united in marriage to Cecelia Carter on October 1st 2016 and they made their home together in Lee’s Summit, MO. Nancy and Cece enjoyed playing Canasta with Tim and Alice Redding on many occasions. Cece preceded her in death on August 20, 2021. 

She was also preceded in death by her biological parents, Charles Patterson and Mary Elizabeth Burton; adopted parents, Charles and Emma Jane Burdette; sister, Susan Mitchell & brother Charles E. Patterson. 

Nancy is survived by her son, James (Cora) Baxter; grandchildren, Amaris Smith, Brenia Smith and Aria Baxter; great-grandson, Liam Smith; brother, Larry (Charolett) Wills; and sister, Barbara Breig; along with other relatives and many friends. 

Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17th at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 4000 Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence MO 64055In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Church at the address above.
