Louise Walkup, 88, of Gower, MO passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017.
 
Ida Louise Walkup was born on July 26, 1929 to Claude and Mary Ann (Wadsworth) Graves.  She grew up during the depression near Gower on the family farm and sang competitively with her sister Wilma around the Gower, Plattsburg areas, winning many awards.  Louise attended a country grade school and graduated from Gower High School in 1947.  From 1948 to 1954 she was employed by Southwestern Bell in St. Joseph.  Later in life, she finished her degree at Platte Business College and upon graduation in 1977, she started working in the Trust Department at American National Bank where she worked until retiring in 1994.
 
On September 10, 1949, she was united in marriage to John Stamper Walkup.  After their marriage they lived in Gower, where they made their home.   Her husband Stamper passed away on February 19, 2009.
 
Louise was an active lifelong member of the Gower Baptist Church.  She was an accomplished pianist, singer, seamstress, cook and mother.   
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stamper and sister Wilma Mumford.  

Louise is survived by three sons, Ed (Vineta), Gregg (Theresa) and Scott, all Walkup’s; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Amanda, Mark, Joshua, Nicholas, Emily, and Molly all Walkup’s; great-grandson Layne Walkup; other relatives and many friends.
 
Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Monday, September 25th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Visitation: 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 24th at the funeral home.
Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower 
Donations may be made to the Gower Baptist Church or the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.
