Lloyd Crawford

Lloyd Crawford, 61, of Lansing, KS, formerly of Weston, MO passed away, June 28, 2021.

He was born on July 29, 1959, to Lawrence and Betty (Lester) Crawford in Jackson County.Lloyd grew up and graduated from West Platte High School, in Weston, MO.

Lloyd worked with the Missouri Department of Transportation for the last 18 years and was eligible to retire in two additional years. He was currently the Maintenance Supervisor at thePlatte City Maintenance Facility.

Lloyd was a leader; he had the ability to listen, encourage, teach, guide and direct those around him.  He led by example. On two occasions, he won the "Innovations Challenge" by submitting two different innovations that would save time, simplify a task, improve dependability and provide more adequate "safety" for his co-workers; both innovations are being utilized today.

Lloyd was respectful and supportive; he was recognized for Contributing to National Security and Protecting Liberty and Freedom by Supporting his co-worker as they served in the National Guard and Reserve Force. That co-worker has reached out to Lloyd on multiple occasions from his station of deployment.

Lloyd was thorough, protective and aware; he received The Long Term Safety Award.  How ironic is it that his life’s work was "safety", yet his life ended so abruptly and tragically as he was providing that safety to the public.

Lloyd was preceded in death by both his parents, and his sister, Linda Coffey.

He is survived by his childhood friend, love of his life, and spouse Julie Goodpaster, step-brother Loren Crawford, nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and loved ones.

Memorial Service: 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation until 9:00 p.m.

Donations may be made to the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund.
