Harold Ray Miller

Harold Ray Miller 84, of rural Smithville, MO passed away Monday, March 6, 2017.

He was born on October 29, 1932 to John Sidney and Della Beatrice (Sharp) Miller in Edgerton, MO.  Harold graduated from Smithville High School in 1950.  He then served his country in the US Army.

On June 3, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley June Allmon.  After their marriage, they lived in rural Smithville where they made their home.  

Harold was a sheet metal worker and worked in heating and cooling sales and service.  He also worked for the Public Water Supply District #8 for many years.

He was a member of the Little Platte Baptist Church for 65 years, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Song Leader.  Harold was also a member of Sheet Metal Workers #2.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, farming, and attending family sporting events. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Marvin Miller and grandson Kyle VanWinkle.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Shirley Miller; daughters Linda Miller and Cindy VanWinkle and husband Dean; grandchildren Jeremy Sweatman and wife  Kary, Jared Sweatman, Kelly Lyon and husband Jeff, Jennifer Taylor and husband Juan, Heather McElhany, Tiffany McElhany, Klint VanWinkle and wife Caitlin, Jenni VanWinkle, Michael McElhany, Amanda McElhany and Eddie McElhany; great-grandchildren Alexis Sweatman, Drew Lyon, Cash Lyon, Will VanWinkle, Anthony Valdivia, Ryanna Christian, Jaydon Taylor, Angelina McElhany, Aliyah McElhany and Natalee McElhany; brother John W. Miller and wife Louetta; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 10th at Little Platte Baptist Church

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday March 9th at the church

Burial:  Ridgley Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Little Platte Baptist Church.
