Fred and Marilyn Troutman

It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Elaine Troutman, 80, of Dearborn, MO announce her passing on November 8, 2020 in Kansas City, MO.

Marilyn was born in Independence, MO to William and Thelma Tremaine on September 29, 1940. She went to high school at Fort Osage High School and graduated in 1958. She married Fred L. Troutman on December 2, 1961. 

 Marilyn spent the majority of her life as an active member of the Dearborn community. Marilyn was a scout leader and room mother. Marilyn’s passion for piano started at a young age. While attending New Salem Church, at the age of 16, she began playing the piano and organ. She continued to play until the age of 78. Marilyn enjoyed talking about the many years she had taught Sunday School at the Dearborn Baptist Church. 

Her passion for antiques and baking led her to becoming the owner and operator of both, Lickskillet Antique Mall and Cakes by Marilyn. Later in life, Marilyn and Fred became members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton, MO. Marilyn had a love for flowers, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted Christian and disciple in her faith. 

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William and Thelma Tremaine; brother, Jack Tremaine.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Fred L. Troutman; sons, Richard (Ocena) Troutman and David Troutman; two grandchildren, Megan Troutman and Derek (Rebecca) Troutman. Along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew her.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Crossroads Hospice Care and Comfortcare for their support in her final days.

Fred L. Troutman, 82, of Dearborn, MO passed away, June 15, 2021.

He was born on March 20, 1939 to Rex and Opal (Worrell) Troutman in Salina, KS. Fred graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. He then attended the University of Kansas and graduated from Long Beach Community College in Long Beach, CA. Fred married Marilyn Tremaine on December 2, 1961. 

Fred was active in the Dearborn Community. He served on the Mid-Continent Ball Association, served on the Dearborn Volunteer Fire Department, and was the President of the Senior Housing.Fred was the Director of Inventory at TWA for many years where he served on various boards. Fred and Marilyn owned and operated Lickskillet Antique Mall. Later in life, They became members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton, MO. Fred and Marilyn had a passion for traveling and visited many foreign countries.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents.

Fred is survived by his sons, Richard (Ocena) Troutman and David Troutman; two grandchildren, Megan Troutman and Derek (Rebecca) Troutman; sister, Betty Nelson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who knew him.

Memorial Service for Fred and Marilyn will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation following until 7:00 p.m.
