Donnie Jones
Donald Lee “Donnie” Jones, 69, of Smithville, MO passed away April 18, 2019.
He was born on October 27, 1949 to Maurice W. and Wilma A. (Baker) Jones in Smithville where he grew up and attended school.
On July 12, 1996 he was united in marriage to Linda I. Martin. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Donnie retired as an over the road truck driver and also worked for Jean’s Flowers in Smithville. He loved playing cards, working in the garden, mushroom hunting and most of all spending time with his friends, family and especially his grandbabies. Donnie was a wonderful husband, dad and papaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Wilma Jones; brothers Gene Jones and Ronnie Jones; and sisters Carol Owens and Charlotte Hudgins.
Donnie is survived by his wife Linda Jones; children James R. Jones and wife Christine, Shelley Callahan, Michael Tate, Sophia Coleman and husband Vince, Bryan Burns and Scott Mize; grandchildren Devon, Dakota, Victoria, Elizabeth, Dusty, Cheyenne, Alexis, Zach, Amber and Kirsten; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Carl Jones and Earl Jones and wife Janet; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 22nd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Inurnment: Community of Smithville Memorial Cemetery
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Megan’s Paws and Claws/Smithville Animal Shelter.
