David Knighton
David E. Knighton, 61, of Platte City, MO formerly of Camden Point, MO passed away, October 17, 2023.
He was born on January 31, 1962 to Charles and Mildred (Tinder) Knighton in North Kansas City, MO. He grew up in Platte City and graduated from Platte City High School in 1980. David then graduated from Northwest Missouri State University.
In 1985 he began working for KCPL/Evergy where he recently retired. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting with his father and brother and working tobacco with family and friends. Later in life he enjoyed cooking. He loved his children, and they were the most important thing in his life. He was a past stockholder in the Platte County Fair.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Adam Knighton and Hannah Knighton, both of Arvada, CO; his brother, Steve Knighton (Dana), Platte City, MO; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
No services will be held.

I went to NWMSU with Boo-Boo Bear and was a good friend, during those years. He was an usher at my wedding but unfortunately we didn’t keep in touch much after that. He was always pulling pranks on guys on Dietrich-5th Floor. May he rest in peace and hopefully someday, we’ll meet up again.

I’m sorry to hear about David passing away. I really enjoyed working with him and we always reached out around Cinco de Mayo every year. He would start making lunch for us in the kitchen in mid-morning when we were at site. I will miss him. He was a pleasure to be around and a great person. Rest in Peace David. David was a smart and caring man especially to his kids , He was a man of many hobbies aside from working full time at kcpl . He was a full time critic of joe buck any Sunday night football game and never hid that fact. I’ll miss a lifetime up to this point as him as a uncle and especially when my grandparents were alive for Christmas. Gone too soon
