Carolyn Baker
Carolyn June Baker, 86, of Platte City, MO passed away Friday, May 3, 2024.
She was born on October 10, 1937, to Walter and Georgia (Satterfield) White in Platte City, MO where she grew up and in 1955, she graduated from Platte County High School.
On October 6, 1957, she was united in marriage to Gordon Baker, Jr. After their marriage they lived in rural Platte City, MO on the farm where they raised their family and made their home.
Carolyn worked for AT&T, Farm Bureau Insurance and volunteered for the Red Cross as a school nurse. Carolyn was the Platte County Fair Queen for the centennial in 1963.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City and the Jaycees. Carolyn enjoyed sewing, crocheting and canning. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Georgia White; and her sister Marilyn Sappington.
She is survived by her husband Gordon Baker, Jr; her children Harold Baker and wife Julie, Lori Sherry and husband Devin, and Curtis Baker; grandchildren Chris Mackey, Danny (Jen) Mackey, Brandon (Kaitlyn) Sherry, and Kaleb (Christina) Sherry; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation 12:00-1:00 p.m. with Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Donations may be made to Northcare Hospice House.
