Emogene Long
Emogene Long, 86, of Dearborn, MO, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Gower Convalescent Center.
She was born on August 30, 1924 to Ernest R. and Pearl Mae (Redden) Patchin in Edgerton, MO where she grew up and attended Edgerton Jct Grade School. Emogene graduated from Camden Point High School and later attended Chillicothe Business College.
On February 19, 1948 she was united in marriage to Chester E. “Gene” Long. After their marriage they lived in Columbia, MO, Rock Port, MO and in 1953 they returned to the family farm near Dearborn, MO where they made their home.
Emogene worked for Hallmark in Kansas City, MO, the University of Missouri in Columbia and in 1955 she began working for the North Platte School District, retiring after 39 years.
She was a member of the Dearborn United Methodist Church and belonged to several different groups. Emogene was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi.
Emogene was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Juanita Patchin.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene; daughter, Patricia Long, Kansas City, MO; grandcats, Blaze and Patches; sister, June Triesch, Millbrae, CA; nephew, Mike Triesch and wife, Marion Daly City, CA; sister-in-law, Betty Cornine, Hughsville, MO; brothers-in-law, Eldon Kriesel and wife, Karen, Marshal, MO and Ronnie Kriesezl, El Dorado Springs, MO; other nieces and nephews and many loving friends.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6th at the Dearborn United Methodist Church
Private family burial at Dearborn cemetery
Memorial Service: 11:00 Saturday, May 7th at the Dearborn United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, Donations to Emogene Long North Platte High School Scholarship Fund, the Cancer Society or the Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter.
