ELMER R. RALSTON
Elmer R. Ralston, 86, of Edgerton, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.
He was born on December 21, 1918 to Willie Jackson and Mary Elizabeth (Shackelford) Rolston in Edgerton, Mo., where he grew up and attended school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On May 15, 1944 he was united in marriage to Virginia P. Foster. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton . They later moved to Ridgely, Mo., where they raised their family.
Elmer worked for Davis Paint in North Kansas City for 38 years, before retiring to their farm.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Smithville, a board member of the North Platte School District, a trustee of the Village of Ridgely Board, and a member of the American Legion Post #445 in Edgerton.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Pearlie Shafer and one brother, Gerald Rolston.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia, of the home, daughters, Pat Denney and husband, Jim, Edgerton, Mo., Kay Kropff and husband, Stan, Canyon, Tx., Marsha Hoffhines and husband, Bob, Salina, Ks., two sons, Randy Ralston and wife, Linda, Dearborn, Mo., and Danny Ralston, Edgerton, Mo., eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one sister, Ruby Witt, Smithville, Mo., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:30 A.M. Friday, April 1st at the Ridgely Christian Church
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery
Visitation: 10:00-11:30 a.m. prior to the service
Arrangements by Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ridgely Christian Church or the First Christian Church in Smithville.
