Eleanor O’Day

Eleanor O’Day, 82, of Hemple, MO passed away on January 28, 2017.

She was born on January 8, 1935 to Marvin and Ruth (Nidy) Jones in Faucett, MO.  Eleanor grew up in Dearborn and graduated from Dearborn High School in 1952.

On March 5, 1957 she was united in marriage to John Edward O’Day.  After their marriage they lived in Hemple where they made their home.  Her husband, John, passed away September 23, 2010.

Eleanor worked for International Harvesters in St. Joseph for 18 years and retired from Edward D. Jones in 2005.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Easton.

Eleanor was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Bonnie Sawyers.

She is survived by her sons, Ed O’Day and wife, Crickett, Gower, MO  and Joe O’Day and wife, Jill, Hemple; granddaughters, Malynda O’Day and Sami Jo O’Day; brother, Jack Jones and sister, Dixie Wood and husband Gary; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.  Graveside Inurnment:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Easton.

Donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

The family wants to thank Ascera Care Hospice for their excellent care especially Debbie and Donna.

    Eleanor, John and I have been friends for many years. Our kids went to school and played ball together in Gower. I will miss her very much.

    My heart goes out to Ed, Joe, Crickett, Jill, Malynda, Sami and the rest of her family. I am do sorry for your loss. She was a very good person and I will miss her terribly.
