Eldon Lee Brinton

Eldon Lee Brinton, 80, of Gower, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his home.

He was born on June 30, 1929 in Agency, MO to R. Finis and M. Hazel (Smith) Brinton where he grew up and graduated from Agency High School in 1947.

On September 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Erma Lee Parrish. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and in 1964 moved to Gower.

Eldon was a bulldozer operator and in 1958, he formed Brinton Construction. He did the dirt work for many buildings in Gower including the school, the Gower Convalescent Center and the additions at the Gower Christian Church.

He was a member of the Gower Christian Church, charter member of Horse Thieves Lodge, Saxton, MO and the Missouri Land Improvement Contractors Association. Eldon also served on the Gower City Council during the Gower Centennial and the Brinton Cemetery Board.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brothers W. C. “Dub” Brinton, Harold Brinton; sister, Elizabeth Gay; and son-in-law Bob Lagle.

He is survived by his wife, Erma of the home; children, Lynne Baker and husband, Phil, Topeka, KS, Kate Lagle, Tuscon, AZ, and Dennis Brinton and wife, Sondra, Gower, MO; grandchildren, Brinton Baker, Abbey Baker, Eric Brinton and wife, Michelle, Piper Kirk and husband, Lyle; great-grandchildren, Kaelin Taylor-Baker, Riley Brinton and Kaylee Hall; brothers, Robert Brinton and wife, Betty, Mesa, AZ, and Ronnie Brinton and wife, Joann, Gower, MO; and sister, Maureen Shorley, Florissant, MO; sisters-in-law, Doris Brinton, St. Joseph, MO and Saramae Brinton, Plattsburg, MO; aunt, Lucille Ottinger, Gower, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower

Visitation: 5:30-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gower Christian Church or charity of your choice.
