Edwary Charles “Buddy” Yates, Jr.
Edward Charles “Buddy” Yates, Jr., 79, of Smithville, Mo., passed away, Sunday, April 15, 2007.
He was born on June 25, 1927 to Edward Charles Yates, Sr. and Ruth Dean Martin Yates in Smithville. He attended schools in Jefferson City and Liberty and in 1946 Buddy graduated from Smithville High School.
On August 5, 1949 he was united in marriage to Laura Ann Manuel. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Buddy worked as a Driver’s License Examiner for the State of Missouri for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
Buddy was a 50 year member of the Smithville Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brother-in-laws, Dr. Richard Strong and Bud Clayton.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, of the home; daughters, Cynthia Kivett and husband Tom, Independence, Patti Hunt and husband Arnold, Connie Kimsey and husband Kyle, all of Smithville; six grandchildren, Brent Kivett and wife Angela, Ryan Kivett, Adam Hunt and wife Valerie, Eric Hunt, Nancy Kimsey and Laura Kimsey; one great-grandson Logan Bryce Kivett; two sisters, Jeryl Dean “Jerry” Vaught and husband Dick and Martha Strong-Clayton, both of Columbia, Mo, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 1:00-2:30 P.M., Masonic Service at 2:30 P.M. and Funeral Service at 3:00 P.M., all, Thursday, April 19th, at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery
