Edward James Ruff Sr.

Edward James Ruff Sr., 80 of Smithville, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at New Mark Care Center.

He was born on March 8, 1930 in Atchison, KS. Ed grew up in Argentine, KS and in 1948 graduated from Argentine High School.

On June 7, 1950 he was united in marriage to Catherine Jean Shea. After their marriage they lived in Argentine, KS, Mission, KS, Barstow, CA, Topeka, KS and in 1986 they moved to Smithville, MO.

Ed retired from Santa Fe Railroad in 1986 after 39 years of service. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing.

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church where he volunteered his time. Ed also delivered Meals on Wheels.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Frank Peter and Susan (Wortham) Ruff.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Catherine; son, Ed Ruff Jr. and wife Mindy, Overland Park, KS; two daughters, Jean Tookolo and husband Terry, Arlington, TX and Carol Flood and husband John, Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Ed Ruff III, Jennifer Ruff, Lauren Porter, Lynsie Morris and husband Wade, and Donna Abbott and husband, Jason; great-grandson, Sam; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4th at Good Shepherd Catholic in Smithville, MO.

Burial: Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO

Rosary: 6:00 p.m. Monday at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville visitation following until 8:00 p.m.

    Father, I will miss you more than you will ever know. Thank you for everything you did for me. I will sure miss talking and laughing with you.
