Edward Franklin Barnett

Edward Franklin Barnett, 79, of Gower, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

He was born on June 14, 1929 to Clifford Edward and Lucille (Aitkens) Barnett in Plattsburg, MO where he grew up and in 1947 graduated from Plattsburg High School.

On June 28, 1947 he was united in marriage to Lynna Mae Genson. Eddie then served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Clinton County where he and Mae made their home.

Eddie was a cattleman until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement he worked in maintenance for the East Buchanan School District until 1999. He then worked for Packs Hardware in Smithville, MO.

He was a member of the Gower American Legion Post #393.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Francis Barnett and a great-granddaughter Lillyann.

He is survived by his wife, Mae of the home; children, Joyce Allen and husband, Almus, Stewartsville, MO, Diana Vasut and husband, Bob, Gower, and Kevin Barnett and wife, Michele, Gower; seven grandchildren, Ryan and wife, Megan, Eric and wife, Sara, and Colton Vasut, Zac and Annie Allen, and Ethan and Tyler Barnett; two great-granddaughters, Mackinsey and Tyran; one sister, DeVola Gordon and husband, Jim Brookfield, MO, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gower
