Earl Everett “Gook” Sherwood
Earl Everett ?Gook? Sherwood, 86, of Dearborn, MO, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008.
He was born on February 20, 1922 to James Braden and Nellie Ann (Barnes) Sherwood near Dearborn, MO where he grew up and graduated from Edgerton High School.
On March 25, 1945 he was united in marriage to Wanda I. Dragoo. After their
marriage they lived near Dearborn until 1961 when they moved to the Frazier Community. In 1980 they returned to rural Dearborn where they made their home. His wife, Wanda, passed away on March 12, 2000.
Gook was a farmer and worked as a surveyor for the AFC Office in St. Joseph. He was also an Insurance Agent for Buchanan County Mutual Insurance for many years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner?s, the Moila Temple and a 50 year plus member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Gook was also preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Nathan Lee Sherwood and brothers, Braden, Albert, James, Joseph Donald and Gene Sherwood, and sisters, Dorothy Fortner, Frances Fortner, Opal Scott, and Lola Gabbert.
He is survived by: daughter, Linda Stephens and husband, Roger, Easton, MO; son,
Joe Sherwood and wife, Nancy, St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Earl Paul and Erin, Jenny and Josh, Jason and Heather, Amanda and Heiko, Cody and Chad; six great-grandchildren, Alexus, Jasmine, Angel, Christian, Julie, Haylee; four step-grandchildren, Danny, Jr., Joshua, Richard and Terry and several step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO, with visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial: Davis Chapel Cemetery, Dearborn, MO
Donations: Hands of Hope Hospice.
