Dorothy Lee (Weakley) Sanders

Dorothy L. Sanders, 87, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009.

She was born on October 26, 1921 to William Bryan and Lucy Mabel (Hines) Weakley in Gower, MO where she grew up and in 1940 graduated from Gower High School.

She was united in marriage to John H. Sanders. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home. John preceded her in death on January 2, 1969.

Dorothy worked for Stockyards Bank, Sukuts, Joe Opticians Jewelry all in St. Joseph along with being a homemaker and devoted grandmother.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, Bill D. Weakley and sister, Betty Memmer.

Dorothy is survived by son, Steve Sanders and wife, Barbara, St. Joseph, MO; grandsons, John Sanders, Mountain Home AFB, ID, and Greg Sanders and wife, Mary, St. Joseph, MO; great-grandchildren, Conner, Steven, Sadie and Gracie; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 30^th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29^th at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to Meals On Wheels or Trinity Presbyterian Church.
