Dorothy Irene (Jackson) Ostrander
Dorothy Irene (Jackson) Ostrander, 82, of Gower, MO passed away, Friday, July 1, 2016.
She was born on September 19, 1933 to Rufus and Grace (Rapp) Jackson in Easton, MO where she grew up. Dorothy graduated from Easton High School in 1951 as Valedictorian of her class. She then attended Platte Guard Business College.
On June 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Walter E. Ostrander. After their marriage they made their home in Gower.
Dorothy worked for Schreiver Mills Hillyards in St. Joseph. She retired from Farmland Industries in 1994 after 29 years.
Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gower. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Vacation Bible School teacher and a member of W.M.U.
Dorothy loved to sew and garden and made many quilts. She also enjoyed traveling and she and Walt spent winters in Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lester, George, Earl, Carl, Floyd, Roy, Edgar, Howard, Bill and Jim Jackson; and sisters, Lily Thomas, and Anna Mae Herpel.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Walter, of the home; children, Steven Ostrander and wife Debbie, Deborah Wallace and husband David; grandchildren, Dayna (Luke) Rogers, Danielle (Tyler) Wainscott, Darcy (Adam) Schoffstall, Alyssa (Nathaniel) Jarrett, Darrell Wallace, Darren Wallace and Aaron Ostrander; great-grandchildren, Carson and Jaxson, Kinsley and Emberlyn, Troy and Dayton; sisters, Mary Nelson, Nadine Karrasch, Betty (Wayne) Kerns, LaDonna Corey and Evelyn Thomas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James Ostrander, Daniel Ostrander, Bill Ostrander, Delores Mason, Sherry Bittfield, and Jason Ostrander, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5th First Baptist Church in Gower, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Graveside Service: Hiawatha Cemetery, Hiawatha, KS.
Donations may be made to First Baptist Church.
