Dorothy Dew Bermond
Dorothy Dew Bermond, 98, of Gower, Mo., formerly of Kansas City and Gladstone, Mo., passed away, Sunday, July 29, 2007.
She was born on April 6, 1909 to Andrew and Flora (Inglis) Bennett near Stanberry, Mo. She attended grade school in northeast Andrew County and graduated from King City High School. In 1930 she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the former Methodist Hospital Nurse’s School in St. Joseph.
On January 11, 1931 she was united in marriage to Wayne L. Bermond. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph until 1942 when they moved to Kansas City and in 1956 they moved to Gladstone. Her husband passed away in 1980 and in 1991 Dorothy moved to Gower.
Dorothy did private duty and staff nursing at Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph and later for Research and St. Luke’s Hospitals in Kansas City. She retired from North Kansas City Hospital.
She was a member of the Missouri State Nurses Association District # 1 and District #18. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Gower and the Gower 39er’s Club.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Curtis Bennett and a sister Jessie Crawford.
She is survived by her son, Ronald W. Bermond and wife, Carole and grandson, Andrew Bermond, all of Gower.
Graveside Service and Burial: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 31st at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone.
Friends may call anytime after 3:00 p.m. today at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
