Donald Ray Silvey
Donald Ray Silvey, 71, of Poulsbo, WA passed away on September 16, 2014 due to complications after surgery.
Don was born in St. Louis, MO on March 23, 1943 to Irvin Ray Silvey and Helen Lee Hornback Silvey Mendenhall. He had been a resident of Retsil Veteran’s Home in Port Orchard, WA. Don graduated from Smithville High School in Missouri and went on to serve in the US Army for 3 years during the Vietnam War. He was proud to be a veteran and always wore his Army baseball cap. He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #4992 in Silverdale, WA.
Don farmed in Missouri with his father for 15 years until he lost his fingers on his right hand in a combine accident. Don met and married Patricia Lynn Engelbert in Smithville, Missouri in 1971. They had 2 sons that Don loved spending time with as they grew. Don was an avid sports enthusiast and loved following the Chiefs, Seahawks, Royals and Mariners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and brother-in-law.
Don’s memory will live on with his wife, Patricia Lynn; sons, Mark Dwayne (Sonya) and John David; grandchildren, Keerstin Marie, Kaylin and Sierra; sisters-in-law, Barbara Mitchell (Charlie) and Joanne Meyer; his aunt Jenny Lou Crow, 99, of Missouri; and cousins, nieces and nephews. An inurnment service will be held at Smithville Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 18th at 2pm. An online memorial can be seen at www.poulsbomortuary.com

I am grateful for the life of Mr. Silvey. Thanks to his service and to the service of others in our armed forces, my family and I have been able to lead our lives in freedom and peace.
