Donald “Pulley” Pulliam
Don “Pulley” Pulliam, 81 of Edgerton, MO passed away, Sunday, January 10, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Home.
He was born on January 19, 1934 to F.M. and Marguerite (West) Pulliam. He grew up near Trimble and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1952. Pulley then served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
On September 8, 1956 he was united in marriage to Sandra Lee Everett. They lived in Edgerton and had two children, Brent and Karla. Don then married Cynthia Stalder on December 4, 1970, they had one son, Ryan. On February 23, 1979 he was united in marriage to Velma Jean Masoner. After their marriage they lived near Edgerton where they made their home. His wife, Velma, passed away February 8, 2006.
Pulley worked for Cooks Paint in Kansas City, and in 1964 he began working for TWA, retiring in 1993. After his retirement he enjoyed farming and raising cattle.
Pulley was Fire Chief of the Edgerton Fire Department. In 2011 he was presented an award for his life saving efforts during a fire rescue. Pulley was a two time Grand Marshall of the Edgerton Pioneer Days, and helped with the Edgerton alumni banquet. He loved to travel, visiting all 50 states and various foreign countries.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Pulley was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children, Karla Austin and husband Jim, Wylie, TX, Brent Pulliam and wife Joan, Smithville, MO, and Ryan Pulliam and wife Julie, Lawson, MO; step-sons, John Riddle and Jim Riddle; grandchildren, Alex and Shannon Pulliam, Brett Austin, Brayden Pulliam and Connor Bryant; and sister, Bonnie Jean Livingston; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 15th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 Thursday at the church.
Donations may be made to the Cameron Veterans Home Assistance League.
