Donald “Poison” Baber
Donald “Poison” Baber 71 of Smithville passed away, Monday, September 9, 2013 at his home.
He was born on December 20, 1941 to Preston and Genevieve (Herdman) Baber in Platte City, MO. Poison grew up in Smithville and in 1959 graduated from Smithville High School. Donald later served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
On June 4, 1966 he was united in marriage to Peggy Davis. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Poison was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville where he taught Sunday School for many years.
Donald worked with his father at the Blacksmith Shop in Smithville. He also worked as a mechanic for Farmland Industries for over 28 years and later served as the janitor at the First Baptist Church in Smithville.
Poison dearly loved his children, grandchildren, and animals and enjoyed spending time at Bean Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Jim Baber.
Poison is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Howard Baber and wife Jennifer, Jeff Baber and wife Dawn; six grandchildren, Donald, Alycia, Tarran, Jared, Brianna, and Ashlynn, great-grandson, Kaden; brothers, Victor, Floyd and John Baber; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14th at First Baptist Church, Smithville.
