Donald Paul Krueger
Donald Paul Krueger, 71, of Smithville, MO, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of August 7, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Don was born on May 20, 1937 in Washington, KS and spent much of his young live in Herington, KS before moving to Kansas City, KS his junior year of high school. Donald graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1955 and soon after married his high school sweetheart, Barbara K. Gerber. They celebrated their 50 year Golden Wedding Anniversary this past May.
He retired from TWA after 42 years of a job he loved. Don and Barbara loved to travel with their two sons John and David, both of whom he was very proud. In retirement, Donald and Barbara continued their love to travel with cruises to Hawaii and Panama, and a recent trip to Japan.
Donald was very proud of his 25+ year involvement with the Kearney Saddle Club. Several of those years he served as President and was extensively involved in organizing the American Kidney Foundation Charity trail rides.
He was preceded in passing by his youngest son, David, his parents, one sister and two brothers.
Donald is survived by his wife, Barbara, eldest son, John and his wife, Vicki, sisters-in-law, Rose Krueger and Joyce Krueger, several nieces and nephews including Mike and Robin Krueger, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 12th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Burial: Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, KS
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Juvenile Diabetes Association
