Donald Franklin Taylor

 

Donald Franklin Taylor, 73, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Sunday, April 4, 2010 at his home of cancer.

He was born on June 30, 1936 to Lester David and Audrey May (Gannaway) Taylor in Dunnegan, Missouri. In 1942 his family moved to Plattsburg, where he attended school. Don then served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.

On October 20, 1956 he was united in marriage to Barbara June Weed in Brooklyn, New York. In 1964 they moved to Smithville, where they made their home.

Don was a Diesel Engine Mechanic, and retired from Midway Ford Truck Company in 1998. He enjoyed bee keeping, hunting, fishing, and square dancing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lewis and David Taylor, and infant sister, Ruby.

Don is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; daughter, Eva Arndt and husband, Donald, Napoleon, MO; sons, Randy Taylor, Platte City and Bill Taylor and wife, Dana, Dekalb, MO, nine grandchildren, Jonathan, Ethan, Nathan, and Joey Arndt, Brooke Boddicker and husband, Zach, Jordan Taylor, Megan Taylor, Wyatt Taylor, and Tabitha Treat; two great-granddaughters, Izabella Taylor and Olivia Boddicker; sisters, Nada Gannaway and husband Eldon, Humansville, MO, and Audrey Price and husband, Russell, Gower, MO, three brothers, Everette Dwane Taylor and wife, Carol, Smithville, MO, James Taylor, Weaubleau, MO, and Paul Taylor and wife Susan, Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8th at the Rock of KC Church 12750 Winan Rd, Kansas City, MO.

Burial: Second Creek Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Donations may be made to Rock of KC Church.
