DONALD E. WISECARVER
Donald Earl Wisecarver, 70, of Smithville, Mo., passed away, Sunday, November 5, 2006 at North Kansas City Hospital.
He was born on March 26, 1936 to Lester Earl ?Jack? and Helen May (Cockriel) Wisecarver in Tulsa, OK He grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from Wichita West High School. Don attended the University of Kansas from 1957-58. He served his country in the US Air Force from 1958-1962.
On April 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to Therese ?Terry? Marie Lipp. After their marriage they lived in Wichita, KS and in 1967 moved to Kansas City, MO In 1974 they moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, returned to Kansas City in 1978 and in 1995 they moved to Smithville.
Don worked at Boeing in Wichita, was a mechanic at TWA, was a maintenance supervisor and mechanic for the Saudi Arabia Airlines, and returned to TWA in Kansas City as a supervisor, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville, the Compass Lodge #120 in Parkville, the Scottish Rite and the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. He was also a volunteer for the Mid-America Regional Council Ombudsman where he received the Davenport-Donaldson Award (the first one given in the Kansas City Region). He also worked with the Cub Scouts and the Girl Scouts.
Don was preceded in death by his mother in 1946, his father in 1967, an infant brother Jesse, and a brother, Jack.
He is survived by his wife, Therese ?Terry?; three children, Helen Zahner and husband, Tom, St. Charles, MO, and their children, Jessica and Nick, David Wisecarver and wife Dianna, Tavares, FLA, and their children, Samantha and Cole, Mark Wisecarver and wife Michelle, Vienna, VA and their children, Mackenzie, Jacqueline and Robert; a sister, Betty Reed and husband, Carl, Tulsa, OK; a brother, Roy Wisecarver and wife, Shelley, Watoma, Wisconsin, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 13th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Smithville.
Burial with military honors: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS
Masonic Service: 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and Rosary: 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with Visitation following until 9:00 p.m.
Donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
