Donald E. Spiers

Donald E. “Slick” Spiers, 84, of Gower, MO passed away, Friday, May 6, 2016.

He was born on November 1, 1931 to Paul Amos and Euna Mae (Smith) Spiers in rural Weatherby, MO.  Don graduated from Edgerton High School in 1950.  He then served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War. 

On November 4, 1955 he was united in marriage to Evelyn Smith. After their marriage they lived in rural Gower where they made their home.

Don retired from Ford Motor Company Tractor Division after 30 years.  After his retirement he worked for Hixson-Klein Funeral Home until 2001.

Don was a member of the Edgerton American Legion.  Donald was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, infant granddaughter, Courtney Leigh Jackson, brothers, Paul J. Spiers and Jim E. Spiers; sisters, Mary Lanham, Ella Hackett, and Ruth Nelson.

Don is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Linda (Jay) Jackson, Chris Spiers, and Wendy (Scott) Davis; grandchildren, Lyndsay (Jason) Crum, Derrick (Stephanie) Spiers, Taylor Spiers, Karlie Davis, and McCabe Davis; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Lucas and Jalyn Crum and Isabella and Maddox Spiers; brother, Kelly (Debbie) Spiers; sisters, Darlene Amos, Donna (Clinton) Mullendore, and Sharon (Raymond) Crowder; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 10th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower.

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
