Don W. Summers
He was born on March 7, 1934 to Virgil and Lorena (Benson) Summers in Paradise, MO where Don grew up and in 1952 graduated from Smithville High School. He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia. Don then served his country in the US Army.
On April 21, 1961 he was united in marriage to Carole Lee Lake. After their marriage, his job in masonry took them various places and in 1973 they returned to Smithville where they made their home.
Don worked for over 25 years for Harold McClain Stone Company and later for Mel Harless Stone Company both in Kansas City, MO. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union of Albany, NY, Kansas City, MO and International. Don also enjoyed farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Robert Summers.
Don is survived by his wife, Carole, of the home; son, Greg Summers and wife, Amy, Smithville, MO; two grandchildren, Wesley and Ellen; sister, Doris Cox, Smithville, MO; Goddaughter, Tanya Mandigo, Corinth, NY; very special friends, Fritzi and Yvonne Snyder, Albany, NY; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 23rd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
