Don E. “Barney” Pierson
Don E. “Barney” Pierson, 76, of Easton, MO, passed away, Thursday, December 20, 2007.
He was born on January 28, 1931 to Charles Hardin and Elva Lorine (Brahler) Pierson in St. Joseph, MO. Don attended school and grew up in St. Joseph and Easton and later graduated from Easton High School.
On November 28, 1950 he was united in marriage to Rita H. Miller. After their marriage they lived in Easton where they made their home.
Don worked for Burlington Railroad as a Chief Clerk for over 30 years. He served as Mayor of Easton, served on the Board of Directors for the Easton Senior Housing, helped put in the water system for the City of Easton, and served on the Easton Festival Board. Don volunteered many years in his community, willing to help anyone. He was instrumental in forming the Easton Lions Club where he served as Secretary and Treasurer. He was on the Easton Baseball Team for many years and was inducted in the Gower Oldtimers Baseball Hall of Fame. Don was also a member of the KC Trapshooters in Smithville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dennis, two brothers, Charles Hardin Pierson, Jr., and Norman Lee Pierson, and one sister, Rosemary Budgett.
Don is survived by his wife, Rita, of the home; daughter, Diana Pierson, Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter, Sofia, of the home, one sister, Gloria Dittman, Salem, OR; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation by his request.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22nd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Private Family Inurnment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Easton.
