DIXIE CRABTREE

Dixie Crabtree, 88, of Platte City, Mo., passed away, Monday, May 16, 2005 in Platte City, Mo.

She was born on November 2, 1916 to O.C. and Grace (Brown) Cogdill near Wallace, Mo. She attended school in Faucett, Mo., and graduated from Faucett High School in 1934. While putting up flyers for the senior play at a gas station in New Market, she met a young man named Delbert Crabtree.

On December 5, 1934 Dixie and Delbert were united in marriage. For 69 years with her best friend and partner, Delbert, they would reclaim overrun farm property, clear, plant crops and raise cattle. They owned several farms in Platte County, and also enjoyed racing thoroughbred horses in many states for over 12 years. In 1991 they retired and moved to Platte City, Mo. Dixie was very devoted to Delbert who preceded her in death in June 2004.

Dixie was a member of the Wallace Christian Church in Wallace, Mo.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie is survived by her sister, Mildred Hansroth, Dearborn, Mo., several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 19th at the Platte City United Methodist Church, Platte City, Mo., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Halleck Cemetery, Faucett, Mo.

The family suggests expressions of sympathy be made to a charity of donor?s choice.
