Dick Hess
Lawrence Richard ‘Dick” Hess, 84, of Smithville, MO passed away, September 28, 2022.
He was born on August 23, 1938 to Ernest “Spec” and Clova (Balke) Hess in Smithville, MO. Dick grew up and graduated from Smithville High School in 1957. He then served in the U.S. Army.
On June 23, 1961 he was united in marriage to Peggy Williams. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Dick worked for Ford Motor Company and retired after 33 years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, trips to Colorado, and Wednesday Night Over The Hill Gang.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ernest “Speckie” Hess; sister, Esther Eberts; and an infant daughter, Justine Leigh.
Dick is survived by his wife, Peggy of 61 years; daughters, Julie (Bruce) Dowsey and Wendy Hess; grandchildren, Steven Dowsey and Irene (Dallas) Parker; great-grandson, Lincoln Parker; other relatives and many friends.
Dick requested no services. The family will be hosting a gathering from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, October 8th at Shelter House by the Dam and Litton Center.
Inurnment with Military Honors following at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Ridgely Cemetery.
