DICK FLANERY

Richard E. ?Dick? Flanery , 65, of Edgerton, Mo., passed away, Sunday, October 30, 2005.

He was born on February 14, 1940 to Denzil Monroe and Nellie Marie (Totten) Flanery in Freeman, Mo. Dick attended school and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and later served his country in the U.S. Navy in Annapolis, Md., where he loved sailing.

On May 25, 1962 he was united in marriage to Judith Kay Allen in Gladstone, Mo. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City North until 1976 when they moved to Edgerton, Mo., where they made their home. His wife, Judy preceded him in death on July 21, 1997.

Dick worked for Hanson Dental Lab in Kansas City, Mo., was a firefighter for the Kansas City Fire Department for several years and later was a salesman for many companies.

Dick was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Adelphi Chapter #355 Masonic Lodge, both in Edgerton, Mo.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Winthrop Flanery.

Dick is survived by three sons; Jeff Flanery and wife, Karen, Gladstone, Mo., Patrick Flanery and Gregory ?Scott? Flanery, both of Smithville, Mo., one daughter; Natalie Wagle and husband, Scott, Ridgely, Mo., ten grandchildren, one brother; James Flanery, Spokane, Wa. one sister; Kaye Tarwater and husband, Kenneth, Kansas City, Mo. Special friends; Marilyn and Delbert, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2005 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton, Mo. Inurnment with military honors: 1:30 P.M., Wednesday at Freeman Cemetery, Freeman, Mo. Masonic Service: 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, Mo., with Visitation following until 8:00 p.m.
