Dennis W. Ratliff
Dennis W. Ratliff, 62, of Easton, MO, died of cancer, Wednesday, December 21, 2011.
He was born on August 10, 1949 to Steven F. and Mary A. (Greenall) Ratliff. He grew up in Gilman City and graduated from Trenton High School in 1967. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He later graduated from Missouri Western State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
On June 22, 1974 he was united in marriage to Marianne Ingle. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Amity, MO, and in 1987 they moved near St. Joseph where they made their home.
Dennis worked for Peachtree Door and Altec both in St. Joseph. In 1978 he began Auctioneering, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and conducted over 100 auctions throughout Northwest Missouri and Kansas. Over the years he partnered with J.D. Johnson, Ron Shackelford and Carl Kimble.
He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and American Legion Post 359 both in St. Joseph, and the National Auctioneers Association. Dennis was kind and generous and was a wonderful Husband, Dad, and Papa. Dennis developed many lifelong friends that he cherished.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Steven “Mick” Ratliff, father-in-law, James E. Ingle, brother-in-law, Mike Ingle, sister-in-law, Nancy Ingle, and nephew, Jeremy Ingle.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Marianne, of the home; daughters, Stefanie Wright and husband Corey, and Jenny Burleson; grandchildren, Hallie and Barick; sister, Sandra Maize and husband, Fred, several nieces and nephews including, Steve and Stuart Maize; mother-in-law, Rosemary Ingle; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Rosalie Ingle, Jerry and Elaine Ingle, Mary Ingle, Larry Ingle, Diana and Steve Hilliard and Pat King; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 23rd at Our Lady of Guadalupe in St. Joseph with visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Dennis’s last party will be held at the American Legion Post 359 in St. Joseph starting at 5:00 p.m. Friday.
Arrangements, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, MO. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Legion Post 359.
