Delk Roy
Delk Roy, 94, of Smithville, MO passed away December 30, 2018.
He was born on January 30, 1924 to Marion Coleman and Martha (Delk) Roy in Liberty, Missouri. Delk graduated from Smithville High School on May 14, 1943. Delk served his country in the US Army during WWII.
On December 29, 1948 he was united in marriage to Cleta Fern Lizar. After their marriage they lived in Smithville, Leavenworth, KS, Sandstone, MN and returned to Smithville where they made their home.
Delk retired as a counselor from the Federal Prison after several years of service. He also farmed in the Smithville area. Delk was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge in Smithville. He was an amazing carpenter and loved to make things for his family and donated several items he made to different organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Edna Shanks and Lois Siminski and brother Archibald Roy.
Delk is survived by his wife Cleta Roy; son David Roy and wife Carol; daughter Deborah Gilsdorf and husband Ben; grandchildren Nichole (Scott), Kyle (Ginger), Jenniffer, Michael (Suzy), and Angela (Bryan); great-grandchildren Bryce, Christopher (McKenna), Tyler (Karson), Austin, Joslyn, and Garrett; sister Wanda Steil; sister-in-law Edith Roy; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 3rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 1:30-3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial: Community of Smithville Memorial Cemetery
