Delbert Ben Jacks
Delbert B. Jacks, 84, of Platte City, MO, passed away, Tuesday, February 17, 2008.
He was born on May 15, 1924 to Clarence E. and Aletha (George) Jacks near Platte City, Missouri where he grew up and graduated high school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On September 12, 1944 Delbert was united in marriage to Iris Tellington. After their marriage they lived in Platte City, where they farmed and made their home. His wife, Iris, passed away, September 1, 1998.
Delbert was a member of the Second Creek Christian Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner’s in St. Joseph, and the American Legion in Leavenworth.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Marjorie Buckler, Mary Boydston, and Dora Howard, one brother, R.D. Jacks.
Delbert is survived by four sons, Larry Jacks and wife, Janice, Jacksonville, FL, David Jacks, St. Joseph, Michael Jacks, Smithville, and Kenneth Jacks, Kansas City, MO; twelve grandchildren; Dawn, Robin, Tara, Ben, Sara, Holly, Keri, Michelle, Michael Jr., Candice, Ashley, and Shannon; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Jacks, Jr. and wife, Virginia; one sister, Henrietta Reed and husband, Bob, Kansas City, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, with visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial with Military Honors: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
