I have fond memories of Mr. Yates as my high school chemistry teacher in the late 70รข??s. He is one of a handful of teachers that inspired me to pursue a career in science/engineering.

David Yates was a man of many talents and gifts. He had a keen intellect, a tremendous memory, a wonderful singing voice, and he was a master teacher and a kind person in thought and deed. He inspired his science students to gain a greater appreciatation and understanding of their physical world. I value the wood angel David carved for me years ago — he gave such carvings to many of his friends. My life was enriched by knowing and being associated with David Yates.

    Doris, Stephen, and Sarah,

My deepest condolences. Mr. Yates (David) was my chemistry teacher in the early 1980s. He sparked my enthusiasm for science — which was the foundation of my career.

    Respectfully,

Craig L. Adams, Lt Col (ret), USAF
    Class of 1981
