David L. Prokop

David L. Prokop, 77, of Edgerton, MO passed away on March 20, 2018.

 

He was born on September 13, 1940 to Edwin J. and May (Jiskra) Prokop in Beatrice, Nebraska.  David grew up on the family farm near Wilber, NE where graduated high school.  He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force.  After his honorable discharge he attended Spartan Aeronautics School in Tulsa, OK.  

 

On August 14, 1960 he was united in marriage to Carol Broz.  After their marriage they lived in Kansas City.  On May 11, 1964 he began working for TWA.  In 1966 they moved to Wichita, KS, and in 1986 returned to Kansas City. David retired from American Airlines in April 2004.  After his retirement David and Carol wintered in south Texas.  

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

David is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; children, Douglas Prokop and wife Kelly, Topeka, KS, Daniel Prokop and wife Dorothee, Houston, TX; grandchildren, Dillon, Lauren, Julia, and Alex; other relatives and many friends.

 

Visitation:  6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO.

Inurnment: 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 13th at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
